‘RUN LAB’
Nike designed the Infinity React Run specifically to reduce injury in runners. To see how well the shoe worked Nike commissioned a study through the British Columbia Sports Medicine Research Foundation. 226 runners followed a 12-week run training program ending in a half marathon. Collectively the runners ran 11,264 runs and clocked over 60,000+ miles. At the end of the study the React Infinity Run actually reduced running injuries by 52% when compared to other running shoes.
To give people the chance to experience this product innovation first hand, I led the design and creation of the React Infinity ‘Run Lab’ at House of Innovation - NYC/000. This experience allowed everyone who visited the ‘Run Lab’ to be onboarded onto the same run testing program as the study. Runners were given the chance to learn first hand about the innovation, go through a run trial + diagnostic, and a 1:1 consultation with a Nike Athlete*. They could also be onboarded onto the Nike Run Club app so that their journey continued beyond the ‘Run Lab’ experience.
