TOKYO SPORT PLAYGROUND
To celebrate the 2020 Tokyo Olympics we wanted to create something as a gift for the city and it’s community. Our goal was to remove barriers to make sport a daily habit in the most sustainable and inclusive way. Working in close partnership with Harpers Playground we designed the Toky Sport Playground as an inclusive space for play that gave everyone in the city access to sport.
To design the park we focused was on using sustainable materials, principles of inclusive design and DNA of the Nike brand. We pulled rich stories from our products + history and brought them to life as inspired surfaces for play. Despite all the challenges of Covid-19 the park opened to the public in September of 2020 and the local communities continue to enjoy free access.
A special thanks to Jonathan Johnsongriffin - Creative Director of Tokyo 2020 and inspiration behind this project, as well as the Nike Tokyo Team and everyone who had a hand in bringing this amazing experience to life.
